TAKE IT EASY

Not having to work today has been heaven. I didn't get out of bed until eleven. I haven't combed my hair or washed my face. I sat down on the couch and watched a movie, and then crawled back into bed and made the kitty purr for almost an hour. He is a ridiculously spoiled prince; I waste too much time on him. It's true love.

We start moving in four days. I'm not sure how, but this entirely snuck up on me. Midterms were, as to be expected, a giant mess, and paired with work, absolutely ridiculous. I pulled through, though. I did the best I could do with the time I was given, and that's all anyone can ask of me. I went to work Wednesday on three hours of sleep after a huge critique and managed to somehow go solo in a new section (looks like I might end up in the kids dept?), back-up for cashiers at mallside and streetside, and recover the right half of the store until midnight. It's a good thing I love the people I work with, or I would have been a very grouchy, unhappy bookseller.

In the spirit of moving, I've been using my spare-time to pick through the design blogs I like for ideas to recreate in the new apartment. And though I have picked up some cool new ideas, mostly all I've done is find a bunch of household objects and art to lust after. I have decided that once I'm rich and famous, I'm going to have one room in my house that is purely a gallery, where I can showoff the fabulous prints I buy and change them out as I please. I wish I knew an art collector. I like to think they lead enjoyable, inspired lives.

Porcelain Keys from The Curiosity Shoppe
These would do nothing to cure my key collecting obsession, but I want them nonetheless.

'It's OK' from Multipolar
The artist hand carves these little pieces out of discarded wood, and the $20 proceeds plant a new tree.

Ink Drawings from Remake at Etsy
She sells a number of different designs, but the butterfly is my favorite. They're india ink on rag paper.

Two prints by Project 8256
I always fall in love with handwritten art. There's something so intriguing and personal about it, it draws me in. These are no exception.

'Worth It' card by Lisa Congdon
I can't wait for her to list some more of these cards. I love the typography and the colors. Gorgeous combination.

Artwork by Amy Sol
Last but not least, I've become a huge fan of Amy Sol's artwork lately, and I just wanted to showcase the pretty-pretty-pretty frames she uses.

All right. Now I'm off to make myself semi-productive for the first time today.

Those keys and the picture frames in the last one are SO pretty. And I've always loved that e.e. cummings poem, so that print is cute too.

I know, I am in love with the frames. I would buy her work for those alone!

Soon! Sorry. Kathleen called after I got off the phone with you, so Lil and I went to dinner and a movie with her, leaving me no time for your layout. I'll get it done, no worries. Just maybe not tonight.

And yay for no more anonymous! :)

I live for those kinds of days where you can lounge around and do absolutely nothing. Hooray for me, I shall be getting lots of those soon! =)

And ew work, I hate crazy days like that. But you need to get more sleep, lady!

your new icon is made of win. So gorgeous! Where do you find them, or the images to make them?

I'm hoping over the summer I might get some more time centered on myself. Originally I was going to bump myself to working full-time, but now I'm thinking I'll just raise my hours a bit more and give myself some time to write, make some paintings to sell, etc.

I do need to get more sleep. Amen. I am 50% caffeine most days.

Isn't it fab? I just happen to come across things in communities and such. If I like it, I save it.

I think that sounds like a genius idea. You need the summer to cool down, there's no point in burning yourself out just to head back into school again. You'll go crazy!

and WTF is up with this new story of yours? Why have I not head anything about it??!

Ugh, I hear you. It doesn't help that I end up closing most nights, so I'm not getting home till 11 or 12 anyway. engh.

aww, pretty. That's how I am, too. But you seem to have better communities. haha.

My goal is to find you a key while I'm in Italy and bring it back to you.

I wish I was moving. I'd love a chance to redecorate. You and Lil are lucky.

Also, I'm really liking this regular updates. You're inspiring me to update my own more often, or to ever use it period.

OH MY GOD.

No, really: OH MY GOD. PLEASE, SHANS, I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER. Shit. If I send you, like $30ish, will you seriously try to find some? That would be beyond amazing. I didn't even think of looking for keys overseas. I bet I could track down some really nice ones in France.... You just blew my mind.

Good! You should update more often. I've been so proud of myself. It's like homework, but I do it! haha.

I miss you lots. :(
